For God so loved the world that he gave…
The word “love” appears 200 times in the New Testament (NIV). Believing in and following Jesus leads to love in action and is essential to growing in faith.
The Bible talks about love as an action: “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another” John 13:34-35 and again in Romans 5:8, “But God demonstrates his love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
God didn't just declare his love for us; he proved it by sending Jesus to die for us while we were still sinners. This act clearly exemplifies God’s love — love in action.
God gave what he valued the most, he gave us His Son, and this is what we celebrate on Easter. We celebrate God’s love in action.
How can we all demonstrate God’s love in action, with our time, talents, spiritual gifts, and resources, so others can experience God’s love?
A recent study by Indiana University noted, “Christian philanthropy accounted for 70% of all American philanthropy in 2022 with a total of $300 billion. Christians also surpassed the United States government in the fight against world poverty.” The data shows that Christians are generous in giving, and their donations significantly impact various charitable organizations and causes worldwide.
This Easter, let’s all be reminded that as followers of Jesus, giving and loving in action is in our DNA.
He is Risen! He is Risen indeed!
