Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all His benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion. Psalm 103:1-4
Thanksgiving is a time for us to stop and praise God for all the blessings in our lives. This Thanksgiving Day we give thanks to God for you. We pray that this season your heart may be directed at God, who gives us countless reasons to be grateful, especially salvation and reconciliation through Jesus Christ.
Happy Thanksgiving!
The Hymn “We Gather Together” is a Christian hymn of Dutch origin written in 1597. The Dutch Protestants were prohibited from worshiping under the Spanish king, Phillip II, so upon their victory at the battle of Turnhout, Adrianus Valerius, wrote “Wilt heden nu treden” to the tune of a familiar folk melody, but with new words. “We Gather Together” celebrated the gathering together for worship. It first appeared in print in a 1626 collection of Dutch patriotic songs.
We Gather Together
1 We gather together to ask the Lord’s blessing; He chastens and hastens his will to make known; The wicked oppressing now cease from distressing. Sing praises to his name; he forgets not his own.
2 Beside us to guide us, our God with us joining, Ordaining, maintaining his kingdom divine; So from the beginning the fight we were winning; Thou, Lord, wast at our side; all glory be thine!
3 We all do extol thee, thou leader triumphant, And pray that thou still our defender wilt be. Let thy congregation escape tribulation; Thy name be ever praised! O Lord, make us free!
This hymn is a great reminder of the freedom we have to worship and serve the risen Lord. We continue to declare, “O, Lord make us free!”
Giving Tuesday is coming up…
As you celebrate Thanksgiving Day and then shop on Black Friday, we wanted to remind you that #GivingTuesday is just a few days away! As your missionaries we count on the generous support of many to help us continue equipping, training and empowering tomorrow’s leaders to obey the Great Commission. Consider giving to our work on November 30 … or if you just can't wait...
